Foodie Passport
Join a shared passport diners fill across ten different restaurants — it brings you people who have never heard of you.
Your own punch-card brings people back. The Foodie Passport brings people in. Diners fill a passport page by visiting ten different restaurants in one category, and a full page earns them two rewards. Filling it is literally a tour of places they have not tried — so every partner sends diners looking for their next stamp, and one of those doors is yours.
A reward is spendable only at the partners that diner actually stamped on that page. So you are never asked to feed someone who has never walked in, and the reward is a reason for a first-timer to come back a second time.
It is free to join, and there is no separate bill: you fund one perk, and nine other restaurants send people to you.
How it works
- Join under Loyalty cards → Passport Setup. Only an owner or manager can do this — it commits the restaurant to honouring a perk.
- Pick your category. One per restaurant: Coffee & Quick Bites, Casual Dining, Drinks & Nightlife, or Fine Dining & Premium.
- Say what you will honour — a short perk in your own words, plus optional details for any conditions.
- Diners earn a stamp when they visit, the same way they earn a punch: your staff check them in with their 4-digit code, or they tap your loyalty tag. Each restaurant counts once per page, so a regular fills one slot no matter how often they come.
- A full page earns two rewards, live for 60 days, spendable one at a time at any of the partners that diner stamped on that page — you included, if they stamped you.
Choosing a perk
The perk is plain text and you edit it in place — no versions, no approval to change it. Write the conditions in your own words ("Any dessert from the menu, one per table"); there is no minimum-spend field.
Diners browsing the network never see your perk. The partner list shows them who is a partner, never what each place gives, so your offer stays something they discover at your door. That is also why you can change it whenever you like — nobody was shown an old promise.
One exception, and it's necessary: a diner with a full page has to choose which of the partners they stamped to spend at, so at that point they see the perk of each of those places, including yours. They have already eaten with you by then. Write the perk so it reads well as a reason to come back.
Fine Dining & Premium
This one category is reviewed by hand. Until it is approved you are not a partner: no diner earns a stamp at your restaurant and no reward is honoured. If we cannot approve it, pick another category and you go live immediately.
The other three categories go live the moment you save.
Honouring a reward
The diner spends it themselves — there is nothing for staff to burn or redeem, and no check-in is needed first.
- They pick which partner they're at — your restaurant, from the list of places they stamped on that page — and their phone shows your perk, in the words you wrote.
- They hold the screen up to you and you say yes or no. Nothing is spent yet; if you can't honour it, they close it and it's still theirs.
- They tap Use it now. It appears on your side as a banner naming the diner and the perk, then in the Rewards used today list on your Activity page. Any staff member can hand it over — this doesn't need a manager.
Whatever your perk said at that moment is recorded with it, so the record shows what was actually promised.
A diner can use one reward per 3 hours at your restaurant, whichever programme it came from — a Foodie Passport reward and one of your own punch-card rewards can't be stacked on one bill.
You can Decline if something is wrong; declining returns the reward to the diner rather than burning it. You have until the end of your restaurant's day (at least 3 hours) to do that.
Pausing
Pause hides you from the hunt: you earn no stamps and honour nothing while paused. Your category and any approval are kept, so Rejoin puts you straight back. Nothing is deleted, and stamps diners already collected at your restaurant stay on their pages.
Good to know
- Changing category is free. Stamps already collected stay on the old category's page; new visits count toward the new one.
- Rewards are locked to the page that minted them. A reward only works at the partners that diner stamped on that particular page — not at every partner in the category, and not at places they stamped on an earlier page.
- No money moves between restaurants. Each partner covers its own perk — there is no clearing, no invoice, and nothing passes through AskFoodie. That is exactly why a reward is limited to the partners the diner stamped: whoever honours it absorbs the whole cost, so it should never be a restaurant that diner has never visited.
- This is separate from your own punch-card. A visit can fill a slot on a diner's passport and add a punch to your card. Running one does not require the other, and one check-in fires both.
- Diners see their side at /me/passport — the stamps, the partners left to find, and the rewards they've earned. See Foodie Passport.
